Sessions

Four kinds of portrait.

Headshots & branding

For founders, professionals and creatives. Portraits that look like you on a good day, ready for LinkedIn, your website and press. Typically 45 to 60 minutes with a couple of outfits.

Couples

Relaxed sessions in a park, on your street or somewhere that means something to you, including engagement and pre-wedding shoots. Walking, talking, and no forced prom poses.

Family

Honest family photographs with the chaos left in: the small gestures and in-jokes that posed portraits miss. Short, playful and paced around the youngest person there.

Maternity & newborn

Gentle, unhurried sessions at home or outdoors, photographed with warmth rather than props and clichés. Newborn sessions follow the baby’s schedule, not ours.

Before your session

What to wear, honestly.

The question everyone asks, answered the way we answer it after you book. Keep it if it helps, whoever you shoot with.

Works beautifully

  • Solid colours in mid tones: olive, rust, navy, cream, warm grey
  • Texture photographs beautifully: knits, linen, corduroy, denim
  • Layers, so we can change the look without changing outfits
  • Long sleeves flatter arms in close portraits
  • One outfit you feel completely yourself in, one a step smarter

Skip these

  • Big logos and slogan prints, they date the photo instantly
  • Fine stripes and tight checks, they shimmer on camera
  • Matching outfits for families: coordinate a palette instead
  • Box-fresh shoes you cannot walk in, sessions involve walking
  • Anything you keep adjusting, you will keep adjusting it

The session

How a session actually runs.

Most sessions run 45 to 90 minutes depending on the format. Here is how the time is actually spent.

We start without the camera

The first ten minutes are just a walk and a chat. You point out what you like, we find the light together, and the camera only comes up once you have stopped thinking about it.

Easy prompts, never poses

Where to look, what to do with your hands, when to just keep talking. The real photographs happen in between, and you are welcome to peek at a frame early. Everyone wants to, and it always helps.

Two or three spots, all nearby

A session is not a location marathon. A short walk between a few different backdrops keeps things relaxed and spends your time on photographs, not travel.
