Small Weddings in London: A Photographer’s Guide

By John Roberto · 5 July 2026 · 5 min read

An intimate wedding ceremony in the panelled Brydon Room at Chelsea Old Town Hall

Registry offices, micro weddings, elopements and intimate dinners: the small wedding is the most honest kind there is, and it deserves more than an afterthought of coverage. We photograph short days across London with the same care as full ones, priced openly from £300.

Nowhere for the feelings to hide

A small room, the people who matter most, vows you can actually hear: intimate weddings concentrate everything a photographer hopes to catch. Nobody performs. The photographs come out the way the day felt, which is the entire point of the documentary approach.

Short coverage is not lesser coverage. Two hours at a registry office still holds a whole arc: the nerves on the steps, the ceremony, the signatures, confetti, and a quiet walk somewhere nearby for portraits. We plan those two hours as carefully as an eight hour day.

London's town halls do this beautifully

The city's register offices hold some of its loveliest small rooms, licensed for anything from two witnesses to a room full of family. We have written photographer's guides to the ones couples ask about most: Chelsea Old Town Hall, Islington Town Hall, Camden Town Hall and Wandsworth Town Hall, each covering the ceremony rooms, the light and the portrait spots within a short walk. Or start with the full shortlist of London's best registry offices.

Marrying somewhere else, a favourite restaurant, a garden, a gallery? Send the details. Small venues are usually where the most interesting photographs live. And if your ceremony is coming up soon, our registry office photography page covers short-notice summer dates.

Short coverage, priced openly

The Ceremony collection (£300) exists precisely for London's small weddings: 2 hours of coverage, 50+ hand-edited images, couple and family photographs, and a private online gallery within 21 days. When the celebration carries on, Essentials (£600) and Signature (£1,000) add the hours, and every collection is listed in full here. No enquiry forms guarding the prices, no surprises after a call.

Small weddings, answered

Is two hours of coverage really enough for a small wedding?

For a registry office or short ceremony, yes, comfortably. Two hours covers arrivals, the ceremony itself, the confetti moment, couple portraits nearby and relaxed group shots, with 50+ hand-edited images delivered. If your day continues into a meal or party, the Essentials collection adds the hours to cover it.

Do you photograph elopements and micro weddings?

All the time, and they are some of our favourite days. A wedding with two witnesses in a panelled room carries as much feeling as one with two hundred guests, sometimes more, because there is nowhere for the emotion to hide. The approach is identical: documentary, unposed and calm.

How much does a small wedding photographer cost in London?

Our Ceremony collection is £300 for intimate weekday and registry office weddings in London: 2 hours of coverage, 50+ edited images and a private online gallery within 21 days. Fuller days run from £600 to £1,400. Every price is listed openly on the pricing page, so there are no quotes to chase.

Which London venues suit a small wedding?

London's town halls are hard to beat: Chelsea Old Town Hall, Islington Town Hall, Camden Town Hall and Wandsworth Town Hall all hold beautiful small ceremony rooms, from four guests up. We have written photographer's guides to each, covering the rooms, the light and the best portrait spots nearby.
